Thank you to everyone who came to our Flag Retirement collection on Friday July 1, 2011 in Bixby Knolls, Long Beach.

We collected over 100 flags that were given to the Boy Scouts so they can be properly retired according to flag etiquette.

What was very inspiring to us were the number of people who brought several flags they had been saving in order to have them properly retired.  Our flag, they symbol of freedom and liberty for more than two centuries, is revered and respected by young and old, white and black, veterans and non-veterans, as we saw during our event. 

If you have a flag that needs to be retired between now and next July, hang on to it, we will be doing a collection again next year, and every year, so our neighbors and community will have the ability to properly retire our flags with the respect and honor they deserve.
