Back when we used faxes and credit reports took up to a week to get back, I would occasionally offer a “Mortgage 101” seminar covering the basics of mortgages and real estate lending. Now that we have instant messaging, social networking on the web and are bombarded with software upgrades every time we turn on our computers, I think it is time for Mortgage 1.0
 
Mortgage 1.0 will cover many of the basics of mortgage lending: processing, underwriting, conventional versus government programs, why mortgage insurance is a great thing for the real estate industry, and other fundamentals.  The seminar will be about an hour and a half and is a great opportunity for newer agents with just a few months or a few years in the industry to fill in gaps in their mortgage knowledge.  This seminar is not just for new agents however, with all the changes in the industry the last few years more experienced agents will find the seminar very useful in brushing off cobwebs as we go back to the Eighties in lending style and learn what new guidelines and procedures are that impact your clients and your business.  Even if you consider yourself “just a listing agent” this seminar can assist your communication with your sellers and other agents and lenders.
