Dennis' Mortgage Blog

As the debt debates continue to go in Washington between the Republicans and Democrats I hope they do not lose sight of the most important target in American today: Jobs.

A four letter word that is stunting our ability to pull out of the recession completely, jobs have been severely lacking and that lack has impacted housing markets and small businesses.

Currently the size of our Gross Domestic Product is higher than it was when the recession started in 2007, not by much but it is higher.

Despite the higher GDP the number of workers getting a regular paycheck in America has declined by over 14 million workers.  So while technically the recession is over, realistically for the families of those 14 million Americans the recession continues and worsens.

Politicians need to focus on what can be done to encourage hiring by American companies, particularly businesses with fewer than 500 workers who employ over fifty percent of the workforce but are continuing to lay-off workers rather than hire them.

We have heard from small, medium and large businesses owners that uncertainty about costs such as taxes and health care, plus the myriad of new regulations from Congress and regulatory agencies have kept them from reinvesting in their companies.   Congress and the White House need to remove these uncertainties and allow businesses to invest in their companies and communities.

Until this happens housing markets and the economy will continue anemic growth, if any.

Mortgage rates continue to remain low for the time being.  Call or email Dennis today to determine your purchasing power for a new home loan or monthly savings from a refinance.  Direct dial 562-472-1118
