DON’T FALL FOR LATEST SCAM!

We have had several clients contact us lately regarding a notice they received in the mail that states boldly: 

Notice for (FILL IN YOUR COUNTY) Property Owners

The notice is that there is a Grant Deed recorded on your property and says you need to send them money, $167 to “Title Compliance Office” to get a copy of your Grant Deed.

This is a scam to get $167, or whatever the amount is, from you to get a copy of the Grant Deed you should already have a copy of from when you purchased your home.  A Grant Deed is what grants you title to your home from the prior owner.  After your escrow closed and the Grant Deed was recorded it was mailed to you.

If you happen to have lost your original Grant Deed and wish a copy contact me or any real estate professional and they can quickly provide you a copy from almost any title company website of your Grant Deed.  It’s free and it is public record.

Do not fall for this latest scam.  Due to the foreclosure crisis that has recently exploded many individuals looking for a quick and easy buck, or one hundred sixty-seven of them, will exploit the news to create doubt so you will send them money for something you can get for free.
